I found that it was actually easiest to find wifi walking down the streets. You can find it in the smallest towns and in the weirdest places.
@Chris – For future trips I will definitely bring a WiFi detector. I used my iPhone to do that for a while, but it isn’t the best. The buildings are so dense around here that signals don’t penetrate very far so the one time I DID find an open signal it took some very precarious perching to make it work.
